Pedestal Bowl with Rutile Blue and Golden Tan Glazes

$75.00

This striking pedestal bowl would dress up the decor of any room or countertop. It's the perfect size to be a fruit bowl, or it could be a gorgeous centerpiece or a tall serving bowl. The golden tan, beige, and the whisps of lavender and blue makes a naturally vibrant color pallet.

DIMENSIONS:
The bowl stands 5 3/4 inches tall, and measures 9" across the width at the lip. The foot accounts for about 2 1/2" of the overall height, and it's 5 1/4" wide at the very bottom. The bowl holds 6 cups pretty easily.

All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.

This piece was thrown on my potter's wheel using rods bod clay. After the bowl was thrown, it was flipped over and recentered and attached to the potter's wheel. After some trimming, I threw the tall foot up from the bottom of the upside down bowl. White slip (watered down clay that has been blended smooth) was painted around the belly of the pot. I used a jagged brush to create some texture through the wet slip, which provided some soft ridges for the rutile glaze to flow and pool around.

This piece was glazed with Goldspot glaze inside, and around the top quarter of the pot. Then the bowl was dipped into Rutile glaze from the bottom up to right below the rim. This pot was fired to cone 10 in a gas reduction kiln.
