Wood Fired Tumbler with Red Flashing Slip and Purple Interior

$45.00

This gorgeous purple and orange tumbler would be a fantastic addition to your cabinets! This cup can easily hold 16 oz, a nice size for iced tea, soda, water or beer. With this cup's height, it could work for hot drinks as well - just leave the top quarter of the cup empty and grasp it there until the rest is cool enough to touch. This pot is so lovely, it could also make an excellent vase for displaying flowers or feathers, or it could simply brighten up a bookshelf or side table.

DIMENSIONS
The cup stands 6 inches tall, and it's about 3 1/4" wide across the widest part of the subtly oval lip. The tumbler holds a pint, or 16 ounces.

This piece was wood fired at the Desert Dragon Pottery Studio in North Phoenix AZ.

Wood firing pottery is a traditional method where pottery is fired in a kiln fueled solely by wood, resulting in unique colors, textures, and patterns due to the interaction of flame and ash with the clay surfaces. The process infuses every piece with both the warmth of the fire and the community effort involved in firing the wood kiln.

All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.

This pot was thrown on my potter's wheel using white BMix clay. A red flashing slip was painted around the body of the pot while it was still wet on the wheel - this slip provides the intense orange color. The dent was added into the rounded shoulder of the cup just after the slip was applied. The interior and top few inches of the cup was glazed with Emily Purple glaze.
