These Rutile and Emily Purple Textured Mugs will brighten up every day! The hand-formed handle provides a comfortable grip, and the swirling blues and lavenders are lively, and yet soothing to the eye. These mugs easily hold over 13 ounces, a great size for daily use.
These mugs all stand around 4.75 inches tall, and 3.25 inches across the lip. They hold 14 oz when full, and all of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.

These mugs were made with cone 10 B-Mix clay on my potter's wheel. A brown iron oxide slip (a blend of water and clay) was applied to the bottom section of the mug while it was still wet on the wheel. To create the texture, a ragged brush was drug through the wet slip as the cup slowly spun on the wheel. The Rutile glaze shows deeper color variation where the glaze flows around the brown texture.
The mugs were glazed with Emily Purple glaze on the interior, and around the top of the cups. Rutile glaze was added over the entire outside. The layer of Emily Purple deepens the blues and purples of the Rutile glaze, and the brown texture brings more warmth to the rounded bottom half of the mug.
