Blue Swirl Cups with Lavender Slip Splatters

from $28.00

These pretty and playful cups are an easy way to add some fun handmade pottery into daily meals and snacks. They can be used for coffee, tea or any other kind of beverage. They have a nice curve at the bottom like a bowl, and can also make a great fruit or ice cream bowl.

You can purchase a single cup by choosing either the Style A or Style B option, or buy the pair at a discounted price by selecting the 'Pair of Cups' option.

Style A: stands 4" tall, and is 4" wide across the lip. Style A is also just a bit wider at the foot.

Style B: Also stands 4" tall, but flares out a bit more at the lip, measuring just about 4 1/2" wide.

The Style A cup nests very comfortably into the Style B cup. Both cups easily hold 12 ounces.

All of my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.

The cobalt blue slip was applied to the cup as it was thrown on the potters wheel. The swirl shape was spun into the cup immediately after, while the cup and slip was wet on the wheel. A curved foot was trimmed in after the pot was leather hard (firm but still damp). After trimming, the lavender slip splatters were added to the cup.

Transparent light cobalt blue glaze was applied over the outside of the piece. A more opaque light blue glaze was applied to the inside of the cups, for a subtle contrast. These cups were fired to cone 6 in my electric kiln.
