DIMENSIONS:
This vase was thrown on my pottery wheel using BMix clay, a white stoneware. It stands 6 1/4" tall, measures 3 1/4" across the lip, and it's about 4 1/4" wide at the widest part of the belly.
The texture was created by applying a layer of brown slip (a watered down blend of clay and brown iron oxide) on top of the pot and dragging a jagged brush through the wet slip as it was slowly spinning on the potter's wheel. I then used a rubber rib to quickly press a swirl mark in through the brown slip. The vase was glazed with Goldspot on the interior, lip and down the neck of the pot. The pot was dipped into Rutile glaze foot first, coating the body and lower neck of the pot. The soft blue band on the neck was created by the overlapping of these 2 glazes.
